B-boying is tight. Just finished a practice session where I focused on all the new footwork I learned this past weekend from Dillon Le. I didn’t even try any floorwork or freezes today because I’m still sore from this past weekend’s practice. Still.
It seems like there’s an ongoing debate in the b-boy community about the names of certain moves. So I’m not sure what the names are of everything I worked on today. But here are my own names for them:
Shimmy sidestep.
Kick sidestep.
Rocksteps.
Crossover + mini-kick.
Most of these can be seen on this footwork tutorial from B-boy Byu.
After seeing some footwork in person this past weekend that looked good, I’m not as crazy about rushing into power moves. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to do what I can to bust out a windmill by the end of this thing, but if I can rock some footwork with my own personal style then the experiment will have been a success.
Tip of the day: When your sore, celebrate because your body is getting used to b-boying.
Follow the experiment on Twitter. And friend me on Facebook.
