Today was the first Saturday practice I’ve done. Usually, I dance on weekday mornings right before I leave my apartment for the day. Saturdays are wide open for me so the only thing I planned on doing today was breakdancing.
This felt great, because I could b-boy slow. And when I take my time dancing I can really think about the moves that I’m doing instead of the next thing on my schedule.
To change things up, I did a bunch of stuff from drills to cartwheels to bear crawls to footwork. I tried the turtle freeze today and could only hold it for about 1 second, if that. Shoot, maybe next time I’ll hit 2 seconds.
I don’t think my body is built for breakdancing. My legs are really big, my body strength is not evenly distributed, and I lack rhythm. My guess is this is probably the situation for about 98% of the world population. Haha, but I’m still going to do this thing.
In my last post, I wrote how I have 87 more days left in the experiment. That’s too intimidating and makes me feel like I’ll never finish. So today I wrote out monthly goals to break the days into smaller chunks of ten per month. Looking at my whiteboard seeing “8 days left” seems more doable than “87 days left.”
Tip of the day: Schedule at least one day a week where you can practice for as long as you want.
