Day 5: this is hard, but worth it

This is harder than I expected.  B-boys: Mad respect for you practicing day in and day out, ya’ll are for real.

I’m encouraged that even the best b-boys were beginners at one time, that means even I got a chance.

Today I worked on the foundational moves like the six-step, toprock, and three-step.  I still have zero style and rhythm at this point, but I’m sure those will develop over time.

One thing I’m wondering is if it’s important to be able to do things like the six-step and three-step in both directions; clockwise and counterclockwise.  Naturally, I go counterclockwise but I think I’d be even better if I could go both directions.  So I started working on that today and it’s like I’m learning the six-step and three-step all over again.  Practicing both directions now will be worth it in the long run.

I tried the Indian step toprock after watching a tutorial from B-Boy Perpetual today.  The twisting and turning makes the step look cool.

Tip of the day: Practice your moves in both directions to be a well-rounded dancer.

Follow the experiment on Twitter. And friend me on Facebook.
